Needles and Thread in my Head: How Sewing Helped Me Find a Home in my Body

Sewing was a skill I learned when I was young and kept in my back pocket for many years. I would pull out my sewing machine like a party trick, occasionally making pillows and small accessories like zipper bags. I had the knowledge and the ability to sew garments, bestowed upon me by my grandmother when I was young. However, I didn’t find a necessity in sewing until I got fat.

Sunday Drives: May 21st, 2017

This past weekend was Sam and I's six monthaversary. If you follow me on instagram, you know i'm well aware that celebrating any anniversary under a year feels naive and trivial, but honestly every day with Sam feels special enough to celebrate.

Twee Sailor Sundays: Cocowawa Crafts Lily Blouse Pattern Review

Long time, no sewing for myself. I actually have a few sewing projects I need to photograph and post here, but firstly I wanted to show off my Lily Blouse from Cocowawa Crafts! The absolutely lovely Ana of Cocowawa sent me this pattern to test, and I felt terrible because it launched right after Sewn Seeds so it took a while for me to actually make it. But once I finally busted it out I totally love it.

Sunday Drives: March 19th, 2017

Today was just the loveliest day with my favorite person. We started with late brunch at Joe Bean, which was having an event that involved tasting many different brunch options and sipping on a lot of different beers and drinks. I had my first sprobomb, which has been a long time coming.

Sunday Drives: January 15th, 2017

Sam and I have taken to spending Sundays getting breakfast and coffee and driving around, exploring the city of Rochester. One of my resolutions for the new year was to take better mementos of small things and to take more pictures, so I figured posting them here would be a good idea.

Winter Necessities

After my last reflective post, I figured right now would be a good time to do a little reflecting on some lighter subject matter. Included in this post is the makeup and skincare products that I've been using all winter and enjoying very much. I've found that in the past month my skin has been clearer, and I've had more time and energy to put into applying makeup, which I always treat as a ritual of self care.

Dark Femme Floral: Tilly and the Buttons Arielle Skirt

Today I'll be speaking about my Tilly and the Buttons' Arielle skirt. I really enjoyed making the skirt, and as with all Tilly patterns, the directions are clear and the product is flattering. I ALWAYS struggle with sizing, as my number sizes are always so significantly larger than the size of pattern I end up with, but this is not exclusive to Tilly, it usually happens with all patterns. Do I have reverse body dysmorphia? We just don't know.

June Favorites

Okay! This is more to keep track of my own life than to suggest other people buy things in order to contribute to a capitalist society, but if you wan't to pick up any of these things, they probably won't disappoint you.
