Conservatory Sundays: Closet Case Patterns Kalle Cropped Blouse
Guys! I just realized I might start all of my posts with "guys". Is there a cooler way to break the blog ice?
Anyway: Happy to show my Closet Case Kalle Cropped Blouse! I worked really fucking hard to keep this shirt from getting wrinkled, but alas, here I am. You may have noticed on my insta stories that I ironed it the day before, HUNG IT UP IN MY CAR LIKE A GOSH DARN LAWYER OR BUSINESS MAN, and wore a bib over it while eating all of my food on sunday. Turns out you can't photoshop wrinkles out. Or I'm just too lazy to do so.
On to dat blouse: First of all, the Kalle is a joy to sew. I know I said that about the Ginger Jeans also (which I'm also sporting in these pics) but I'm just really hard into Closet Case patterns right now. Stylish, readable directions, and you can usually find a sew along on her blog with great pics. I don't have a good excuse to sew her new kaftan, but that probably won't stop me.
Heather made a post on her blog with fabric suggestions and I absolutely fell in love with this shirting from mood. I'm so in love, I'm tempted to buy 10 more yards and make my entire wardrobe out of it. At least one more summer dress at least. It is a little difficult to winter-ize tiny embroidered beach babes, but I'm gonna make it work.
The sewing was simple and thoughtful. I did an FBA on a size 16, probably would size down one more to make the tunic in the future, which I plan to do. I also lengthened the front and the back an inch, because cropped on my body tends to look like I-am-just-barely-covering-my-underboob. I'm obsessed with the placket, and am planning on making more Kalles in the future.
That's my Kalle! Let me know what Closet Case Patterns you've sewn, and how you liked them!
