Generosity is a habit of the heart that kids can start building early. These four verses, from the World English Bible, are simple enough for young children to understand and talk about together as a family.

1. Giving Is a Blessing
"In all things I gave you an example, that so laboring you ought to help the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that he himself said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'" (Acts 20:35)
Talk about it: Can you remember a time giving something away made you feel happy?
2. A Generous Heart Is Cared For
"The liberal soul shall be made fat. He who waters shall be watered also himself." (Proverbs 11:25)
Talk about it: What is one small thing you could share with a friend this week?
3. Give With a Cheerful Heart
"Let each man give according as he has determined in his heart; not grudgingly, or under compulsion; for God loves a cheerful giver." (2 Corinthians 9:7)
Talk about it: Why do you think it matters how we feel when we give, not just what we give?
4. What We Give Comes Back
"Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will be given to you. For with the same measure you measure it will be measured back to you." (Luke 6:38)
Talk about it: Have you ever seen kindness come back to someone who was generous?
